***LSCA 5/29/20 SUMMER CAMP UPDATE***
Dear Campers, Friends, and Partners.
81 years ago a group of visionaries dreamed a crazy dream to set aside a little dairy farm as a sanctuary of sorts… a place where the sole mission was to see people of all ages make life changing decisions to be more like Christ. Since then, every summer, this place has been filled with youth, led by amazing Godly adults, having the time of their lives.
The leadership of LSCA wants nothing more than to continue this vision set before us in 1939. The management and the board have spent hours reading information, seeking guidance and praying. However, the very nature of camp stands in stark contrast to the “physical distancing” and “gathering limitations” guidelines that we must follow, and that are in place for the safety of everyone. The campers’ safety is always at the forefront of all of our programming. Large group gatherings and dorm style housing create the very environment where COVID 19 thrives. We humbly admit that we cannot do camp responsibly or safely during this time. Therefore, it is with great sadness, that we announce that all LSCA summer camp programming has been suspended.
Our theme for summer 2020 has been FOCUS. We were inspired by Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith…” Our prayer for you, for us, and for the entire LSCA community is that as we fumble our way through this difficult time, and all of the other ones that will follow, we do not get tangled up in the vices and comforts that the world offers, but stay the course and keep our eyes on Christ. He is moving: just watch and listen. Let us stand ready to move with Him.
If you have registered your camper, please know that we are so sorry to cancel. We will be connecting with you in the next couple of weeks to discuss any credits on your account due to payments made. Families who have paid registration fees can choose to:
Receive a refund
Leave a credit on their account for a future event
Donate to the camp
Any combination of these
We will now move our efforts to other avenues of connection with campers, families, and friends. Please watch LSCA’s social media for events like family scavenger hunts and survival lessons. We will also look forward to the day when we will gather face to face with fewer restrictions and enjoy being together in pursuit of Christ. As this becomes possible, we will plan events, and we can’t wait!
